鳥嘴醫生，又名瘟疫醫生，英文名The Plague Doctor
Plague doctor ---疫病醫生，意大利語稱為physici epidemeie。最早的PD中有許多沒有行醫執照沒有多少治療經驗，很多都是靠招搖撞騙來斂財，他們的治療對象多是疫病暴發期間的黑死病患者---- 當然受到嘉獎的傑出醫生也有，比如Paracelsus和Giovanni de Ventura。戴著面具的疫病醫生俗稱 Beak Doctor（鳥嘴醫生），穿上這樣的行頭就代表妳是治疫病的“專家”。通常鳥嘴醫生都身著油布制成的厚重外套，戴著黑色的皮手套，臉上戴著鑲有護目鏡的鳥嘴面具，口鼻部位塞著棉花、樟腦、薄荷、姜，凈化吸入的空氣
雖然黑死病爆發的時代在13世紀，但這種面具起源於16世紀，壹名叫Charles de Lorme的法國醫生發明。他將棉花等填充物塞入壹個面具的口鼻位置，充當防毒面具，來醫療染上瘟疫的病人。這種面具在口鼻部位突出，眼睛的地方挖兩個洞。他同時也帶著禮帽遮住頭發，穿上長袍擋贓物，還手拿壹根棍子接觸病人。
原先這只是壹種衛生措施，後來傳入了威尼斯，
據記載威尼斯13 世紀就有面具狂歡節了，參加狂歡節的人們喜歡這種面具，並誇張了口鼻的突出部分，像鳥嘴
